Dead Horse State Park

Posted: January 4th, 2021

On Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 I hike the Rim Loop in Dead Horse State Park, including all of the overlooks. I started at 11:30AM and finished around 3:00PM. The hike is mostly easy, flat terrain. Some of the overlooks are a bit more challenging to get to but as long as you stay far enough from the edge, there isn't much of a concern for danger.

The hike can be done in either east or west direction and is similar. At this time of year there was snow covering the trail. The views in the park are dramatic, with a meandering river. Entering the park cost $20 at the visitor center.

Once I completed the hike, I drove back to Denver, Colorado. This was the last hike on a 6 day trip.
