On Friday, December 23rd, 2022, I drove to Lake Taharoa. It's a rare lake which has sand and fresh, clear water. The lake is a popular spot for locals and is safer to swim in than the nearby ocean. The water was warm where it was shallow but dropped off deep and became cold.
